Original Artworks

With the generous support of Hospital Rooms artists we are raising funds for our Digital Art School: a series of creative workshops for patients in mental health units in NHS hospitals across the UK.

This is a time where we are all gaining some understanding of how it feels to have our freedoms restricted and how important it is to create an environment that helps us sustain our mental health. Surround yourselves with fantastic and affordable artwork while also supporting those affected by severe mental health conditions.

All proceeds from the sale of Hospital Rooms Limited Editions support our vital work.

Steve Macleod

Steve Macleod (b. 1965, Scotland) graduated in 1993 with an MA in Photography from RGU Grays School of Art, Aberdeen. He is the Senior Director at Metro Imaging in London. Macleod shoots on large format with a consistently systematic and meticulous approach so that he can absorb and slow the pace of the images. He creates a stillness, a sense of extended present time through narrow depth of field and camera movements. Represented by Black Box Projects in the UK, Macleod regularly exhibits and works are held in both private and public collections, including the V&A Museum.

Ryan Mosley

Ryan Mosley (b. 1980, Chesterfield, UK) is a narrative painter who uses pictorial cues — from beards to brick walls and top hats — as triggers for art historical reference, class commentary, and pure formalism.

Ryan worked with Hospital Rooms in 2019 on a project at Bluebird House, a mental health unit for young people who have been in touch with the criminal justice system. These studies were created in preparation for Ryan’s workshop for the Hospital Rooms Digital Art School in Summer 2020.

We are incredibly grateful to Ryan Mosley for donating these works to Hospital Rooms, and to Josh Lilley, Tim Van Leare Gallery and Galerie EIGEN + ART for their support. All proceeds will support our future projects.

Tamsin Relly
Rainbow Colour Studies

Tamsin Relly started this series of Rainbow Colour Studies when she first returned to the studio in early 2020, having taken a pause after her daughter was born the previous summer. ‘The initial idea was to create a rainbow mixing only three colours, as a way of getting back to some technical basics, while exploring palettes for new work. It was one of my ways back into painting – a simple and playful exercise I could get my head around.’

Shortly after, coronavirus enveloped the globe and the Rainbow – an age old sign of magic and possibility – bloomed into a universal symbol of hope and gratitude for those on the frontline. Tamsin ran a workshop for Hospital Rooms Digital Art School where participants made rainbows out of three colours, while exploring basic colour theory.
