Michaela Yearwood-Dan
Michaela Yearwood-Dan creates extraordinary, enigmatic, paintings using thick impasto layers and intuitive rhythms. Her paintings are self described as ‘cathartic releases exploring class, race, gender, femininity, love and heartbreak. Yearwood-Dan’s work is influenced by Japanese and Chinese painting methods and the everyday including extracts from unsent text messages, plants, gold hoop earrings and acrylic nails. Although much of her works comment on political topics such as misogynist ideas of beauty, there is often humour involved in the making process.
