Orlanda Broom
Orlanda Broom’s paintings take two distinct forms; her lush, floral landscapes and her fluid abstract works. Connecting these two bodies of work is a strong sense of colour, references to organic forms and the exploration of painting mediums. In some sense the paintings express a rose-tinted view of the natural world. However, the surface joyousness is tempered by an uneasy sense of abandonment. ‘I depict wild places that offer a timeless quality and a glimpse of paradise that is lost to us.’
