Leaving a Gift in Your Will

A legacy of change

Help us work towards systemic long-term change in mental health care.

Your legacy gift

By remembering Hospital Rooms in your Will, you are pledging vital future support that can allow Hospital Rooms to continue to work towards systemic change in how we treat people in the mental healthcare system.

Wording for Your Will

For information about leaving a legacy, please read our suggested wording for your Will. We’d recommend that you have your Will written by a solicitor or a professional Will-writing service. This helps prevent any future legal issues.

If you’d like to leave a gift to Hospital Rooms in your Will, you and your solicitor can use the formal wording below. This will help ensure your wishes are carried out.

There are two types of gifts you can leave in your will to Hospital Rooms. Read about the types of gifts Hospital Rooms can receive, and our suggested wording for your Will:

Cash Gift

A cash gift, known as a pecuniary gift, is a fixed sum of money, for example £5000. These gifts are paid out of your estate first, and then what’s left is divided up as per the instructions in your Will.

Wording to use within your Will:

I give [insert amount] to Hospital Rooms (registered charity number 1168101), 404 Lock Studios,
7 Corsican Square, London, E3 3YD to be applied for its general purposes. I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.

Residuary Gift

This type of gift is a share of your estate, for example 5%. Many people divide their estate into 100 equal units. After giving to family and loved ones, they then gift a certain number of units to Hospital Rooms. Unlike a cash gift, leaving a share of your estate means your gift won’t devalue over time.

Wording to use within your Will:

I give [insert percentage] of my residuary estate to Hospital Rooms (registered charity number 1168101), 404 Lock Studios,
7 Corsican Square, London, E3 3YD to be applied for its general purposes. I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.
