Pinhole Camera

A pinhole camera is the most basic form of camera. Instead of a lens it uses a tiny hole or apeture to focus light and project the inverted image on to a screen.

Mark Titchner and Anna Barriball ran a pinhole camera workshop with the residents at Bluebell Lodge using cardboard boxes and magnifying glasses to help focus the light.

In this simplified version all you need to make your pinhole camera is a cereal box and packet, some tape and a pin.

The screen should sit in the box like this.

Your pinhole camera is ready to go. Look through the open end of the box from a dark space to a light space.

You should see an inverted image of the light source projected on to the screen!
