10 Posters. 10 Years. 1,000 Mental Health Hospitals.

This year Hospital Rooms celebrates 10 years. Since 2016 we’ve brought extraordinary, museum-quality art into some of the most overlooked spaces in the country: NHS psychiatric wards, secure units and inpatient settings where people spend their days surrounded by cold, clinical walls.

“Ten years ago we walked onto a ward and saw how much a clinical space can take from a person. This campaign is everything we’ve learned since: that art can give some of that back, and that it belongs in these rooms as much as in any gallery.”
– Niamh White, Co-founder, Hospital Rooms

To mark a decade of this work, ten artists we deeply admire have each kindly donated a poster. We’re giving a full set of all ten to 1,000 NHS mental health hospitals, 10,000 artworks reaching wards across the country.

Almost none of this art is ever seen beyond those walls. For the first time, you can own the very same poster we’re placing on the wards, and your purchase supports the work that puts it there. Own an artwork. Share an artwork.

Why Art Belongs on a Mental Health Ward

People in mental health hospitals are among the least likely in society to encounter art and culture, yet they spend whole days, weeks and months inside these walls. A bare, institutional environment can deepen distress; a thoughtful, beautiful one can offer something to hold onto.

For ten years we’ve seen what happens when that changes. Patients describe wards that finally feel human. Staff describe spaces they’re proud to work in. Art doesn’t replace clinical care. It sits alongside it, restoring dignity, calm and a sense of the world beyond the ward.

This is art that lives out of public view, inside hospitals. Owning a poster is a rare chance to bring it home, and every purchase helps fund the next decade of our work: more wards transformed, and a free national programme that keeps creativity within reach of people too often left without it.
