Hospital Rooms offers exclusive limited editions to raise money for our most urgent upcoming projects.

Tamsin Relly was commissioned by Hospital Rooms to create a new and compliant artwork for Eileen Skellern 1, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit for women at Maudsley Hospital. Tamsin visited the ward on a number of occasions and invited staff and service users to paint or draw their earliest memories of being in nature during creative arts workshops. In response, she designed the space in the hope that it would reflect the restorative and meditative qualities of being immersed in a botanical environment. She created a direct-to-media print suggesting a vibrant jungle layered with vivid blooms that is placed on a hand painted backdrop of softened shapes in quieter tones. The mood varies within the work, offering different spaces to rest or dream in. While the sitting area leads onto the courtyard in the unit, access to nature is limited for patients. The work aims to bring qualities of the outdoors in, with the elements and seasons alive in cycles of growth and expansion or rest and rejuvenation.
